WALTER PULLEY Walter Pulley, age 87, died June 5, 2015 at Hospice House in Stuart, FL. He was born in Brooklyn, N.Y. and resided at Nettles Island since 1995, coming from Blue Point, N.Y. He served in the Coast Guard as a Radio Technician stationed in St. Paul, Alaska, and Hobe Sound, FL. Prior to retirement, Walter worked for the Long Island Lighting Co., in Bay Shore, N.Y. and New York Telephone Co., in Patchogue, N.Y. Upon moving to Nettles Island, he started a yearly reunion in Sebring, FL for Bayport-Blue Point residents. At Nettles Island, Walter was Secretary of the Men's Tuesday Golf League, member of the Men's Club, Tennis Club, and the Theatre Guild. He was founder of the Men's Chorus. He also started the annual New York Party at Nettles Island. Walter had been reporting the weather to the National Weather Service in Melbourne for the past 10 years along with his wife, Gloria. Survivors are his wife of 61 years, Gloria; his daughter Susan, and son-in-law Richard Van Lindt, of Juno Beach, FL. Also several nieces and nephews. A Celebration of Life Service will be held at Nettles Island on a future date. Memorial contributions can be made to Treasure Coast Hospice.
